
Tom Feltgen, Luxembourgish Cellist
Tom Feltgen began his musical studies in Ettelbruck with Raju Vidali before continuing his training in Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, and Saarbrücken.
In 2022, at the age of 24, he was appointed cello professor at the Conservatory of the City of Luxembourg, marking a significant milestone in his career.
A laureate of the Cello Biënnale Amsterdam competition, Tom Feltgen has performed in prestigious concert halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Philharmonie de Paris, the National Concert Hall in Dublin, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, and the Narodowe Forum Muzyki in Wrocław.
As a soloist, he has been invited to perform with orchestras such as Luxembourg Philharmonia, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Málaga Camerata, interpreting concertos by Dvořák, Haydn, Gulda, and Shostakovich.
Passionate about chamber music, he has shared the stage with renowned artists like Mihaela Martin, Lars Anders Tomter, and Ralf Gothóni.
Recently, he was invited to perform for Pope Francis and Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg. Additionally, his participation in the recording of Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Karina Canellakis earned a Grammy nomination in 2023.
Tom Feltgen plays a cello crafted in 1862 by Gabriel Lemböck, previously owned by the celebrated cellist Daniel Müller-Schott. This remarkable instrument accompanies his artistic endeavors with sensitivity and depth.
